Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Sharpe Connections collects, uses, stores and shares personal and health information, and how you can access your information or raise a privacy concern.

Our commitment to privacy

Sharpe Connections respects your privacy and handles personal and health information in accordance with applicable Australian and New South Wales privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles, and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW), including the Health Privacy Principles.

Information we collect

Depending on the services you use, we may collect your contact details; enquiry, appointment and billing information; information relevant to counselling or other agreed services, including health and sensitive information where reasonably necessary; professional information for supervision; and email subscription preferences and consent records.

The website may also collect limited technical information, such as cookies, device details and analytics data, where enabled.

How we collect information

We generally collect information directly from you when you contact us, complete a form, book or attend a session, or subscribe for updates. Where permitted, we may also receive information from a referrer, employer, insurer, funding body or another health professional.

How we use and share information

We collect, use or share information where reasonably necessary to respond to enquiries, arrange appointments, provide agreed services, maintain professional records, process payments and manage the practice.

Information may also be used or shared to meet professional, ethical, insurance, funding or legal obligations, or to manage safety concerns, complaints or serious risks where permitted or required by law.

We treat health information as sensitive. Being a current or former client does not mean your health information will be used for marketing.

Email updates

Joining our email list is optional and separate from counselling or supervision. With your consent, we may send occasional updates about resources, groups, programs or other offerings.

You can unsubscribe using the option in an email or by contacting Sharpe Connections. We action unsubscribe requests in accordance with Australian spam laws.

Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Records may be stored electronically or on paper, with safeguards appropriate to their sensitivity.

Health records are retained for the periods required by law and professional obligations, then securely destroyed or de-identified where appropriate.

Service providers and overseas handling

We use third-party providers for services such as website hosting, booking, email, payments, cloud storage, telehealth and practice management. The website is hosted through Squarespace.

Some providers may store or process information outside Australia.

[Confirm booking, email, payment, cloud storage, practice management and telehealth providers, and relevant overseas recipient countries where applicable.]

Cookies and website analytics

The website may use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions and, where enabled, analytics and performance. You can restrict cookies through your browser settings.

[Confirm which analytics or marketing tools are enabled and describe their use before publication.]

Access and corrections

You may request access to your personal or health information, or ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Lawful exceptions may apply. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

Please contact Sharpe Connections with any privacy question or complaint so we can consider and address it.
